We are closing the exhibition Encounters/ Begegnungen with a Screening of Criollo (2017) by Scottish Artist Ross Birrell. The short film was commissioned for documenta 14 and features an Argentine criollo horse standing at the Artists’ Gate entrance to Central Park at the end of sixth Avenue / Avenue of Americas, New York. Criollo a variant of “creole”, holds associations of “creolisation”, “cultural mixing” (Stuart Hall) and “entanglement” (Edouard Glissant) in the context of globalisation and migration.
