Remodel
Yasuaki Hamada
13.04. – 13.06.2023
Hamada’s sculptures are made from a combination of ready-made objects and objects imitating mass-produced objects made by himself. He often uses motifs such as houses, cars, and sleeping bags, suggesting his interest lies in our everyday lives. By interweaving images and objects existing in urban space with Hamada’s memories and sensations and presenting them in a slightly different form from the formula, his work evokes a sense of belonging, as well as a longing for it, discomfort, and alienation. In this exhibition, “Remodel”, Hamada presents sculpture works made by manipulating wooden toys, furniture, and plastic model parts found in thrift stores and combining them with objects he has created himself.
